Glor.IA - [Game Jam Project]

(Made from December 12th to December 15th 2022 during an inter-school Game Jam)

This project was a very short project made for a game jam organized by my school (GOBELINS, l'Ecole de l'Image) and the Coding Factory. We had 3 days and a half to come up with an idea for a game, with as a theme "Master & Servant". My team decided to make a game where we work as a maintenance worker for an AI that controls the world. The player has to ensure the AI is safe and that the facility is in a good state, while rebels try to attack said facility over and over in an attempt to get rid of the control this AI has on society as a whole and to promote free-thinking.
Inspired by Papers, Please, we wanted to give the player the choice to help the rebels or follow the orders of the AI. The game is a mix of 2D and 3D, with the interactive interfaces within the game forcing a distance between the player and the rebels, while the AI has a direct point of contact through the computer. The goal was to make the player feel less and less human as the game progressed, and see what choices they would make based off of that.
