(Made between September and October 2022)
Droplet is an AR game on the theme of growth, in which you must collect drops of water in order to allow the potted plant to grow. However, when the drops aren't collected and fall onto the ground, they also feed the ground, which can lead to other plants growing around the pot. The game centers around the duality between humans trying to fix the damages they did to nature, but nature also attempting to fix itself - the goal being to show that nature both need help to get better, but should be allowed to flourish on its own at times as well.
The game was developped on Unity, and was made as a school project to explore AR - it is my first attempt at AR. The requirements were "what is growing/what is pushing" (qu'est ce qui pousse) as well as a physical object being the trigger for the AR aspect. I decided to settle on a pop-up drawing of a pot with clouds in the back, as a way to connect the project to children's books, which are often the kind of books in which we can find topics like this one presented. This led me to pick a 2D simplistic looking artstyle, and pair it with cute looking characters, to contrast with the darker topic.
