SureTech - [School Project]

(Made between September and December 2021)

Suretech is a platformer game in the form of a sidescroller, in which we move forward with a hook across the high buildings and the streets of a futuristic city, torn because of a conflict between an overprotective police force and a terrorist rebellion. Our adventure begins when a Journalist, our main character, wakes up in jail, as a dark silhouette opens the door to his cell and the alarm starts ringing. He must then escape from jail with the hook he got from one of the knocked out guards outside his cell, and once in the city, he must run from the police officers following him while also trying to catch up to the strange character who freed him.

The game is focused on the two factions - the government, through the police and the megacorporation Suretech©, and the rebels. Throughout the game, you receive infos through dialogues between NPCs, as well as the radio and TV shows you can listen to, which allows you to have a better understanding of the world you’re playing in. We wanted to show the nuance, the fact that both factions have good and bad in them : the government tends to be controlling and tries to instore a mass surveillance system but the population is protected and the society in which they live in is stable, while the rebels, who are all for personal/individual freedom and “me first”, still are a terrorist group, which attacks regularly places in order to try and destabilize the government, attacks which happen to make quite a lot of innocent civilian casualties, and which are talked about on information channels. In the end, the choice is on the player - which side shall you pick?
